The American Hope??

(yahoo sports)

Andy Roddick has been called the future of American tennis. Ther truth is, he is American tennis, Andre Agassi is aging and the best performance James Blake has had lately, has been on Celebrity Poker Showdown (watch the repeats on Bravo). Does he have what it takes? Roddick has lost consistently in the first or second round of the French Open in the last few years. He also has not advanced past the quarter finals in Australia. If he wants to be one of the best, he will have to get past Federer the same way that Lendl surpassed McEnroe in the mid 80’s. Roddick has to concentrate more on hitting tennis balls, not Mandy Moore.

Google OS?

Google has released both Google Desktop 2 and Google Talk in the last couple of days. You can connect to Google Talk using any Jabber supported IM client, which includes iChat, Adium, Gaim, Trillian Pro and Google’s own client. However, voice calls are only available in the Google client.

Google Desktop gives users the ability to search files on their own computers. It’s faster than the search that’s built into Windows. You can search for applications as well, so if you type in “Quicktime” a popup shows up with a link that will open up your Quicktime player. It’s similar to Spotlight on a Mac. Google Desktop also has a sidebar which is a panel on your desktop with little applications on it. For example, there’s a Weather app, and a Photo app that shows random photos from a directory on your computer or a website of your choosing. It’s similar to Dashboard in OS X or Konfabulator from Yahoo. The search functionality in Google Desktop is excellent, but I prefer the widgets in OS X and Konfabulator (Free - Windows & Mac).

So you can see that things are starting to change. The people at Redmond better start selling a shit load of these, because there maybe a a new evil empire in town.
