Gimme the ball, Brett

An unidentified fan runs with the football after taking it from Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre as they play the Cincinnati Bengals in the second half, Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, in Cincinnati. The Bengals will reassess their security measures after the fan ran onto the field Sunday and disrupted a potential game-tying drive by the Packers as Cincinnati won, 21-14. - Yahoo News

*Update: The fan who ran out of the stands and snatched a football from the hands of Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre pleaded not guilty to a variety of charges at his arraignment Monday.

Gregory Gall, 31, of Cincinnati, is accused of resisting arrest, trespass and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. He was released on his own recognizance following his court appearance. The Cincinnati Bengals are reviewing their security measures to prevent a repeat of Gall’s run on the field, which interrupted the final minute of Cincinnati’s 21-14 victory over Green Bay. - Slam Sports

Are Metrocards A Thing Of The Past?

A so-called “smart card” is about to take a swipe at the metrocard system.
These “smart” cards have an embedded chip that’s read by a scanner with a single wave.

The cards, which have magnetic strips like metrocards, often require several swipes before they work.

Next month, those smart cards will get a trial run on the Path system, linking Manhattan to New Jersey.

If the smart cards are a success, the MTA will consider installing the system on New York’s subways. - 7online.com
