Mets acquire Lo Duca to replace Piazza

The Florida Marlins were close to a trade Sunday night that would send catcher Paul Lo Duca to the New York Mets, cutting more payroll in exchange for prospects.

Florida would receive minor league pitcher Gaby Hernandez and a second minor leaguer, a pair of baseball officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the trade had not been finalized. The sides were still discussing the involved players, and the deal was not likely to be completed until Monday, the officials said. - MSNBC

The Light Before Christmas

A video clip shows home Christmas lights synchronized to flash in time to a musical score, in this case Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Wizard in Winter” (from The Lost Christmas Eve album).

This display was the work of Carson Williams of Mason, Ohio, who spent about three hours sequencing the 88 Light-O-Rama channels that control the 16,000 Christmas lights in his 2004 holiday lighting spectacular. The musical accompaniment is broadcast over a low-power radio station so that it is only audible to visitors tuned in to the correct frquency and doesn’t disturb the neighbors. - Urban Legends Reference Pages

“Tonight, He Comes”

Will Smith will play a disaffected and underappreciated superhero in a mid-life crisis. Akiva Goldsman and Michael Mann will produce with Smith and his Overbrook Entertainment partner, James Lassiter.

Smith and director Jonathan Mostow have committed to Tonight, He Comes — a development that has Columbia Pictures eyeing a production start in Los Angeles by next summer, reports Variety. - Comingsoon.net
