American Idol: Did ‘Sway’ Break Rules?

American Idol may have hit another sour note, with the revelation that one of this season’s leading contenders may have violated the show’s rules.

Jose “Sway” Penala, 28, a South San Francisco native who even impressed the prickly Simon Cowell with his rendition of “Superstar,” apparently had a record deal with his group, 6th Day, at the time he auditioned as an amateur for the FOX talent search, realitytvmagazine.com reports.

According to a flattering profile that ran Wednesday in the Philippine News, Penala was born in La Salle Greenhills, emigrated to the U.S. in 1989 and started singing at age 7, his uncle, Jay Caedo, tells the paper. - People

Hooters may be best known for its chicken wings and waitresses but it may soon be known for its hotel casino. The Hooters Hotel in Las Vegas opens this week.

Dark Crystal set for sequel

Fantasy puppet film THE DARK CRYSTAL has been given the greenlight for a long-awaited sequel.

JIM HENSON’s production company will once again create the puppets for the movie called POWER OF THE DARK CRYSTAL.

The sequel is set hundreds of years after the first picture, which hit cinemas in 1982, and follows the exploits of a mysterious girl, made of fire, in her bid to re-ignite the dying sun.

The film will be directed by GENNDY TARTAKOVSKY, who says, “The original Dark Crystal was the pinnacle of puppetry; they created characters that were as believable as the ones you see in animated films.” - Contact Music

I remember this movie…for some reason I watched it like 10 times. It was weird, but the puppets look like real people!.

Kama Sutra Worm Set for Attack on Feb. 3

Security analysts are warning computer users about a new and potentially destructive Internet worm that can obliterate important documents. The worm, called Kama Sutra, is making the rounds now, but is scheduled to execute its first massive attack on February 3.

The malicious worm targets computers running Windows and spreads primarily by copying itself to shared network locations and then sending itself to e-mail addresses found on afflicted computers. With subject lines that read “the best videoclip ever,” “give me a kiss,” and “school girl fantasies gone bad,” the worm entices computer users to open the attached file. - Yahoo

Manning says he didn’t throw O-line under the bus

In his first public comments since the Indianapolis Colts’ 21-18 playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers two weeks ago, quarterback Peyton Manning today defended himself against the charge that he had laid all the blame for the team’s offensive difficulties on the offensive line.

“I was perceived to have done something that I was 100 percent trying to avoid doing,’’ Manning said at an awards presentation recognizing the 2005 FedEx NFL Ground and Air Players of the Year.

“You’re saying, ‘the offensive line.’ I never said those words.’’

“When I said ‘protection,’ protection is a concept. It’s the quarterback. It’s the scheme. It’s you-name-it. Those were the words I chose and obviously I was surprised by the reaction, but I just don’t do that. I have never done that. I didn’t do it that day and I never will.’’ - Indystar.com

The offensive line was terrible, but Peyton does basically control the offense and can call and slide protection schemes.
