The Mets have signed star shortstop Jose Reyes to a four-year, $23.25-million contract extension. The team will announce the signing this aftenoon.

The 23-year-old All-Star is batting .293 with 10 home runs, 45 RBIs and a National League-best 44 stolen bases.

The team has an option for a fifth year at $11 million. The contract calls for a $1.5 million signing bonus and salaries of $2.5 million, $4 million, $5.75 million and $9 million and a $500,000 buyout if the fifth year is not picked up. - SI
