Good article on how close Carlos an Shawn are..
Bobby pins would have slid off Carlos Delgado’s bald head, so he used sticky tape to make sure the yarmulke stayed in its proper place. Shawn Green was getting married, and it wouldn’t be kosher if the guys in the wedding party looked unkempt.
Delgado chuckled as he recalled the story. Yes, the anecdote was true, but when he was probed for more minutiae, like whether he danced the hora, Delgado scoffed.
“I’ll try to blend in and contribute when I can,” said Green. He and his wife plan to live in Manhattan, where they’ll soak in new cultures and become active in the Jewish community. Delgado promised to remind him of his priorities, should Green’s attention be diverted. Delgado’s used to guiding Green. They were at Delgado’s wedding in Puerto Rico last December when Delgado made his own request. If Delgado could tape a yarmulke to his head, Green could salsa dance. More important minutiae: Was he any good?
“Of course not,” Delgado said. “That’s why we made him do it.” - NY Daily News
A really good article I got from Raul…
Almost anyone who loves tennis and follows the men’s tour on television has, over the last few years, had what might be termed Federer Moments. These are times, as you watch the young Swiss play, when the jaw drops and eyes protrude and sounds are made that bring spouses in from other rooms to see if you’re O.K.
The Moments are more intense if you’ve played enough tennis to understand the impossibility of what you just saw him do.
The Tennis Channel is buying the U.S. cable TV rights to the French Open previously held by ESPN2, giving the fledgling network a Grand Slam tournament for the first time and an event it hopes will help increase its reach.
The agreement, announced Thursday, begins in 2007 and can run for up to nine years. It also gives The Tennis Channel U.S. rights in all media for the clay-court tournament, including broadband and video-on-demand, plus access to archives of past matches. - Yahoo
Roger Federer laughed off a TV tennis analyst’s remark that he wasn’t trying to win a U.S. Open tuneup match last week.
“That’s absurd. I think what she said is a joke,” Federer said Thursday. “I don’t take it seriously.”
CBS commentator Mary Carillo said she thought Federer didn’t mind losing to Andy Murray 7-5, 6-4 in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters on Aug. 16. Carillo said she figured Federer wanted to get extra rest ahead of the U.S. Open, which starts Monday.
“He wasn’t trying to beat Andy Murray that day,” Carillo said during a conference call with reporters. “He went there because he had to, and he played as though he went there because he had to.” - Yahoo
I hope that was a joke. Carillo is usually smarter then that.

Jessica Alba’s definitely known for being sexy, but after a run-in with co-star Dane Cook that left her toothless the actress is feeling anything but.
“We did all of our love scenes in one day and I chipped a tooth and I lost a tooth, isn’t that disgusting? We’re smashing our faces together, it’s not the slowest, most romantic love scene.” - TMZ

When Phat Albert hit that grand slam, I though it was over. But ever since the Mets wore the ‘86 jerseys, they’ve been playing Amazin’! Getting Green is like getting Nady back. I hear they are also interested in Moises Alou.

1. Tell me about yourself:
The most often asked question in interviews. You need to have a short
statement prepared in your mind. Be careful that it does not sound
rehearsed. Limit it to work-related items unless instructed otherwise.
Talk about things you have done and jobs you have held that relate to
the position you are interviewing for. Start with the item farthest
back and work up to the present.
2. Why did you leave your last job?
Stay positive regardless of the circumstances. Never refer to a major
problem with management and never speak ill of supervisors, co-workers
or the organization. If you do, you will be the one looking bad. Keep
smiling and talk about leaving for a positive reason such as an
opportunity, a chance to do something special or other forward-looking
reasons.
