‘Smokin Aces’ - Trailer
Starring Ben Affleck, Andy Garcia, Alicia Keys, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, Ryan Reynolds
In these interlocking tales of high stakes and low lifes, Mob boss Primo Sparazza has taken out a hefty contract on Buddy “Aces” Israel (Piven) - a sleazy magician who has agreed to turn state’s evidence against the Vegas mob. The FBI, sensing a chance to use this small-time con to bring down big-target Sparazza, places Aces into protective custody.
The New York Times on the Wii

“I have already seen the Wii appeal to people who would never pick up an Xbox or PlayStation controller. At Thanksgiving at my aunt’s house in New Jersey, there was my 59-year-old stepfather, who hadn’t touched a video game since Pong, locked in a tight golf match with my 21-year-old cousin. There was my aunt clamoring for her turn. And most shocking, there was my mother, 61, whom I had been trying to get into video games for two decades, playing tennis so vigorously she bruised her finger.”

Katharine McPhee Talks About Upcoming Album
“The most important thing is making it the record that is really me,” McPhee said. “I think people didn’t know what I was going to be. Was I going to be the Celine Dion, the Barbra [Streisand] or the Pussycat Dolls?”
McPhee insisted she’s the same “classy Katharine” she was on “Idol,” but called the new tunes a sort of combination of the three.
Those people include Babyface and songwriter Kara DioGuardi (Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff), as well as less predictable names like Chad Hugo of the Neptunes and Timbaland’s production partner, Nate “Danjahandz” Hills, who worked on Justin Timberlake’s “My Love” and Nelly Furtado’s “Promiscuous.”
McPhee has yet to finalize the track list, but potentials include “Somehow,” produced by Ryan Leslie (Cassie’s “Me & U”), the DioGuardi-penned power ballad “Home” and “We Got Each Other,” a mid-tempo number that reminds McPhee of Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together.” “Neglected,” which McPhee co-wrote, is also a likely keeper, as is the girls’ anthem “Open Toes.” “It might be the new ‘Thong Song,’ ” she said, laughing. - VH1
Sounds like it could be good album. Supposedly the album comes out at the end of January. Visit her official site here.
Nick Lachey Has Own Baseball Team
Lachey was introduced as a part-owner of the Tacoma Rainiers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Before Wednesday, Lachey had no connection with the waterfront city 30 miles south of Seattle, other than occasional performances at the nearby Tacoma Dome.
“Sports for me, other than what I do for a living, is truly my passion, and baseball has always been something that is a part of my life,” said Lachey, who grew up a Cincinnati Reds’ fan. “Being able to do what I do for my career, thankfully I’ve been blessed enough to be able to do well in that, to have other opportunities and this is one of them.” - SI
Shocking! Another Guido Busted!
The well-gelled 16-year-old was behind the wheel of a rented Chrysler Pacifica Nov. 10 when he was pulled over by police in the town of Dix Hills for running a stop sign.
According to a spokeswoman with the Suffolk County Police Department, officers on the scene smelled marijuana in the vehicle, and a subsequent search turned up a small amount of pot as well as “a quantity” of painkillers (morphine and OxyContin), for which he did not have a prescription. - E Online

Turmoil @ Giants Camp
“It’s a shame, because Plaxico is a great player and a good guy to be around, but at the same time you’re judged by your actions on the field and you can’t give up, you can’t quit, because you’re not quitting on yourself, you’re quitting on us,” Strahan said Monday on his weekly WFAN appearance. “We work too hard all together to have that type of stuff happen, and Plaxico is one of the guys who works hard.
“I don’t quite understand what his motivation is, or what his lack of motivation is in those type of situations. I’m pretty sure I’m going to try to see what it is and try to see if I can talk to him about it.
“He’s too great of a player to have people look at him and think he’s a quitter. Don’t be labeled as a guy who’s a sometimes player, I-play-when-I-want-to type of attitude. He’s too good for that.” - NY Post
*Update: There was some craziness and tumoil at Giants camp today….according to Chris Carlin of WFAN, a reporter asked Plaxico about Strahans comments. He says something to the fact of …”I don’t talk about my teammates. If that’s the way he feels, then that’s the way he feels. If he has issues with me then I’ll talk to him personally. But I don’t go to the radio and talk about teammates”…later on…(apparently both Plax and Strahan talked) Michael comes out and confronts the media and gets pissed off at the reporter by the way he asked the question by being negative (it sounded like he was going to deck him).
Pedro expecting return to Mets in midseason
Pedro Martinez said he is making strides in his rehab, but doesn’t expect to return the New York Mets’ rotation until midseason.
“The rehabilitation process is better than expected,” Martinez said.
“I am going for a checkup every two weeks, because this is what we agreed with the doctors,” he said.
“I am not planning to make changes in my windup in any way,” he said. “This is how I have had success and I’ll keep doing it.” - ESPN
…Because Seven Ate ‘Nine’
ABC has taken “The Nine” off the schedule.
The low-rated freshman drama “The Nine” — about the aftermath of a botched robbery and hostage situation — has been taken off the schedule, effective immediately.
Seven episodes of “The Nine’s” 13-episode order have aired. On Wednesday, the final night of the November sweep, ABC will air a special “20/20″ in the low-rated serialized drama’s 10 p.m. slot.
According to the network, the remaining six episodes of “Nine,” will return later in the season. The decision mirrors ABC’s move this month to bench the new drama “Six Degrees.”
In its most recent airing, “Nine” averaged a minuscule 4.1 million viewers. - Yahoo
