Federer parts ways with coach two weeks before French Open

Mired in his worst slump in more than three years, Roger Federer is splitting from coach Tony Roche.

The top-ranked Federer announced the change on his website Saturday, saying he and Roche mutually decided to end their arrangement. The move leaves Federer without a coach two weeks before the May 27 start of the French Open, the only Grand Slam tournament he hasn’t won. - CBS Sportsline

Carlos Gomez - Mets Rising Star

Carlos Gomez (age 21) is considered a five tool prospect. He has elite speed; Mets’ General Minaya has stated that Gomez is faster than shortshop Jose Reyes. He also has an excellent throwing arm.

Carlos Gomez had an exciting major league debut for New York, getting two hits and scoring twice. Called up from the minors before the game when struggling pitcher Mike Pelfrey was sent to Triple-A New Orleans, the speedy Gomez also stole a base and made a diving catch in right field.
