Mayor Jim Schmitt and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg have staked — or steaked — a bundle of their cities’ best foods on the game.
Mayor Jim Schmitt put up a gift basket with 17 cheese spreads from U.S. Specialty Cheese, 20 strip steaks from Smithfield Beef, and 3 pounds of chocolate from Beerntsen’s Candies. He also promised to toss in a pair of cheese wedge sunglasses from Cheese Shades, according to a news release from his office. All the companies are based in Green Bay.
Bloomberg bet a 10-pound New York-style cheesecake from Manhattan’s Carnegie Deli, a case of Brooklyn Lager from Brooklyn Brewery, and 20 pounds of Porterhouse steak and six bottles of steak sauce from Peter Luger Steakhouse in Brooklyn. - rrstar
