‘Redbelt’ Trailer

“Jiu-jitsu is a very, very different way of looking at conflict. The essence of jiu-jitsu is, Don’t oppose force to force. Learn to conquer yourself. Do away with your anger, which can only hurt you in a confrontation. Don’t take on the other guy’s weight. Someone wants to call you names, so what? Somebody wants to hurt you? OK, so what? If you clear your mind, you can actually see what’s being done to you, what the other person’s intent is, and instead of opposing, you can end the confrontation by leaving or by subduing the other person. You don’t have to expend your force but, nonetheless, by understanding, by gaining a superior position, you can prevail in a conflict. It really does help me everywhere.”

Prison Life Just Got Darker

A federal judge has sentenced action star Wesley Snipes to the maximum three-year sentence on tax charges.

Prosecutors had requested three years, one year for each of Snipes’ convictions of willfully failing to file a tax return.

Snipes’ lawyers offered three dozen letters from family members, friends and even fellow actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington attesting to his good character. They argued he should get only probation, because all three convictions were misdemeanors and the actor had no previous criminal record.

Xbox 360 Wireless Rock Band Guitars Seen At Stores

We’ve been waiting for Harmonix to deliver the promised Xbox 360 wireless Rock Band guitar controller for a while now, and it looks the company is stealthily getting them out there.

Pre-orders have been trickling out for about a week, and alert reader Greg just sent us these shots of the controller in the wild at his local Best Buy. Oddly, he says the in-store price is $79.99 while the BestBuy.com price is $59.99, so if you’re looking to cut the cord, you might want to save some cash and order online. Oh, and remember — this bad boy doesn’t work with Guitar Hero, so don’t say we didn’t warn you.

How many calories do you burn playing the average Wii game?

Computer programmer Mickey DeLorenzo did put himself on a Wii fitness regimen for six weeks in December 2006, dubbing it the “Wii Sports Experiment.” Tracking his results online, DeLorenzo reported that he lost 9 pounds (4 kilograms) and 3 inches from his waist just by integrating a half hour of Wii activity every day — no dieting or additional exercise included. During these workouts, DeLorenzo emphasizes that he swung or punched, depending on the game, as hard as possible to maximize his results. According to his calculations using a calorie measurement tool made by BioTrainer, he burned:

* 125 calories in 15 minutes of Boxing
* 92 calories in 15 minutes of Tennis
* 77 calories in 15 minutes of Bowling
